Glenn Carl Leonard

Glenn Carl Leonard, a native of Washington, DC, is the second oldest of 8 children. The Leonard's were not unlike hundreds of thousands of poor families trying to survive in the inner cities of America. During the early years of Glenn's life, he was raised between Washington, DC and North Carolina.

Glenn started singing at the early age of 6 years old and by the time he reached 13, he began to earn a living performing on stage, at parties, concerts, and as a recording artist. He had a dream of being an established, professional and successful entertainer. With a lot of hard work, diligence, and determination, he successfully established three singing groups by the time he was in his early 20's called "The Chancellors," "Instant Groove," and "True Reflection.”  He was also a member of a popular and successful recording group from Washington, DC called, "The Unifics."  Glenn's first recording was with "The Chancellors" on Cap City Records, a subsidiary of Scepter Records in Washington, DC. He later recorded with "True Reflection" on Atlantic Records, releasing an album entitled, "Where I'm Comin' From.”

In 1975, Glenn came to the attention of the world renowned and legendary Temptations of Motown. Glenn had a long and illustrious career as the first tenor and lead singer of The Temptations from 1975 to 1983. He performed on 10 albums with The Temptations, singing lead on many songs including "I'm on fire,” "Go for It," "The Best of Both Worlds," "Open Their Eyes," "Ever Ready Love,” and the classic Christmas song "Silent Night" from The Temptations' Give Love At Christmas LP. One of the highlights of Glenn's career as a Temptation was being a part of "The Temptations Reunion Tour" in 1982. He had the opportunity to travel all around the country performing with legendary entertainers including Eddie Kendrick and David Ruffin and reuniting with the group members Glenn, Otis, Melvin, Richard, and Dennis, making SEVEN Temptations on stage giving unforgettable, extraordinary, and historic performances.  As a former member of the legendary Temptations, Mr. Leonard has recently been inducted into the R & B Music Hall of Fame.

After leaving The Temptations, Glenn became a born again Christian, entered into full time ministry, was licensed, ordained, and received an honorary doctorate degree in the 1990s.  Glenn’s work in the ministry has long been focused on mentoring and training under-served and at-risk youth in the community, and he has received many accolades for his tireless efforts in that regard.  Glenn continues to share his unique gifts as a speaker and singer with audiences everywhere.
